VI Peel Before and After: Real Results for Acne Scars, Melasma, and Aging Skin

Quick answer: VI Peel results include brighter skin, reduced acne scars, faded dark spots, and softer lines. Full results show four to six weeks after peeling ends. Recovery takes three to seven days of peeling. Most patients need two to four sessions for moderate concerns. Results last three to four months.

What is VI Peel before and after? It describes the change in skin after a series of VI Peel medium-depth chemical peel treatments. The VI Peel uses a mix of active ingredients to remove dead skin cells and trigger new collagen growth. It targets acne scars, melasma, sun damage, and fine lines. Results show up once the peeling is done, and the skin keeps improving for four to six weeks after that.

This guide draws on VI Peel clinical treatment protocols, medical aesthetics guidelines, and published research on medium-depth chemical peel outcomes.

What is the VI Peel and how does it work?

The VI Peel is a medical-grade medium-depth chemical peel made by VI Aesthetics. It uses a mix of five active ingredients: TCA (trichloroacetic acid), Retin-A, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C. Each one plays a specific role.

TCA goes into the deeper skin layer and triggers cell turnover. Retin-A speeds up surface shedding and builds new collagen. Salicylic acid clears pore-clogging material and fights acne. Phenol helps the other acids go deeper. Vitamin C slows down dark pigment production. This makes the formula strong for pigmentation concerns like melasma and dark marks left by breakouts.

Together they create a medium-depth peel. It goes deeper than a basic glycolic or lactic acid peel. But it does not need the long recovery of a deep phenol peel. Most patients experience four to five days of active peeling and can go back to normal life within seven to ten days.

The VI Peel comes in several versions for specific skin concerns. This makes it one of the most flexible peel systems used in med spas and dermatology clinics today.

VI Peel before and after by skin concern

Acne scars

Before treatment, acne marks appear as flat dark patches or as bumps and pits in the skin surface. Both types respond well to the VI Peel. But textural scars need more sessions than flat dark marks.

After three to six sessions, most patients see clear fading of dark acne marks and a smoother skin surface. The VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus is made for acne and dark post-breakout marks. It adds salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to the base formula.

Full results for acne scar improvement show four to six weeks after peeling ends, not right after the peel is applied.

Melasma

Melasma is one of the hardest skin concerns to treat. The American Academy of Dermatology describes it as a condition that causes dark patches, most often on the face, and notes it can last for years without treatment. The VI Peel's vitamin C and TCA target dark pigment at the source. At the same time, the peel removes existing discoloration from the surface.

Before treatment, melasma shows up as patchy brown or gray-brown marks. These most often appear on the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip. After three to four sessions, most patients see clear fading of dark patches. The VI Peel Precision Plus is made for pigmentation and melasma. It adds brightening agents to the base peel.

Melasma can come back with sun exposure. Daily SPF use after each session is not optional for this concern.

Fine lines and aging skin

The Retin-A and TCA in the VI Peel build new collagen in the deeper skin layer. This firms the skin over time. Before treatment, fine lines show at rest and deepen with movement.

After two to four sessions, patients report softer fine lines, firmer skin, and smaller-looking pores. The VI Peel Advanced targets mature skin. It uses higher levels of the anti-aging ingredients.

Sun damage and age spots

The VI Peel's salicylic acid and TCA treat sun-caused dark spots in two ways. They remove surface discoloration and slow down pigment production deeper in the skin.

Before treatment, age spots appear as flat brown marks spread across the face. After one to two sessions, most surface pigmentation fades a lot. Results show about six days after treatment, once the peeling is done. The skin keeps brightening for four to six weeks after that.

VI Peel recovery timeline: day by day

DayWhat to expect
Day 1 to 2Mild redness and tight skin. Looks flushed. No visible peeling yet.
Day 3 to 5Peeling starts. Skin peels in sheets, mostly around the nose, chin, and mouth. This is the most visible stage.
Day 6 to 7Most peeling is done. New skin underneath looks pink and fresh.
Day 8 to 14Skin settles. Pink tone fades. First signs of better tone and texture appear.
Week 4 to 6Full results visible. Collagen from the peel keeps improving skin quality.

Do not pick or pull the peeling skin. Picking makes recovery longer and raises the risk of dark marks, especially for patients with deeper skin tones. Let the skin shed on its own.

Stop actives (retinols, acids, vitamin C serums) at least five days before and during the peel phase. Use only a gentle cleanser, a plain moisturizer, and SPF 30 or higher throughout recovery.

How many VI Peel sessions do you need?

The number of sessions depends on how serious your concern is.

For acne and acne scars, three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart are recommended. Each session adds to the last. Skipping sessions or spacing them too far apart reduces the total result.

For melasma and dark spots, three to four sessions give clear fading for most patients. Patients with deep or long-standing melasma may need more.

For general skin brightness and upkeep, one to two sessions per year may be enough. Many patients use the VI Peel as a seasonal skin reset.

VI Peel results are not permanent and last about three to four months. This makes regular sessions a key part of keeping results long-term.

Who is a good candidate for VI Peel?

The VI Peel suits most adults who want to improve acne, pigmentation, aging, or sun damage.

Good candidates can take seven to ten days of recovery per session. They use SPF every day. They have no active skin infections, are not pregnant, and have not used Accutane in the past six months.

The VI Peel is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types, including deeper skin tones. This sets it apart from many medium-depth peels that carry higher risk for darker skin. That said, patients with skin types IV to VI get the best results when they use a brightening serum for two weeks before each session. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that treating darker skin tones requires extra care to avoid worsening pigmentation.

Patients who should not get the VI Peel include those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active cold sores or skin infections in the treatment area, or are on Accutane now or within the last six months.

VI Peel vs. other chemical peels: what is the difference?

Peel typeDepthRecoverySessionsBest for
Glycolic acid (superficial)Surface layerNone to 1 day6+ for visible resultsDull skin, mild texture
Salicylic acid (superficial)Surface layerNone4 to 6 for acneAcne, oily skin
VI Peel (medium depth)Outer + upper dermis7 to 10 days2 to 6Acne scars, melasma, aging
TCA 25–30% (medium depth)Outer + mid-dermis10 to 14 days1 to 3Sun damage, deeper lines
Phenol (deep)Full dermis4 to 6 weeks1Advanced aging, deep scars

The VI Peel sits in the most useful zone. It goes deeper than basic peels, which barely touch acne scars. But it does not need two or more weeks of recovery like deep peels do. For patients who want real results without a long break from life, it is one of the strongest options out there.
